A Town Full of Trees That Are Still Growing Up
Tree Service in Wolfforth looks different from tree work in central Lubbock. Wolfforth grew from 3,670 people in 2010 to 5,521 in 2020, and the Census Bureau's 2025 estimate puts it at 8,746. Most of that growth is new homes on new lots, which means most of the trees here are under twenty years old. Young trees are where pruning pays off most: a few well-placed cuts now decide whether a tree is strong or a liability in 2045.
What builders plant, and what it turns into
Fast-growing shade trees go into a lot of new yards because they fill in quickly. Fast growth often comes with tight forks, several competing leaders and long, heavy limbs. Left alone, those trees tend to split at the main fork in the first strong storm after they reach roof height. Structural pruning picks one main leader, shortens the competitors, and spaces the scaffold limbs so the tree's weight is spread out. On a young tree it takes an hour, not a day.
Young families, busy yards
Census figures show 34.5% of Wolfforth residents are under 18 and the average household has just over three people. Trees in these yards hold swings and treehouses and shade trampolines. If a limb has a crack, a hollow, or a mushroom growing from it, that is worth a look before kids are under it all summer.
Storms do reach the southwest side
West Texas Mesonet and spotter reports from the National Weather Service show what Wolfforth trees put up with. On May 31, 2024, an 8-inch-thick tree snapped at its base about five miles south of town. On June 5, 2025, large branches blocked a hotel parking lot northeast of town, and hail up to 2.5 inches fell a few miles east. Hail shreds leaves and bark on young trees; most recover, but torn bark on the trunk can let decay in and is worth checking once the leaves come back.
Our usual Wolfforth jobs
- Structural pruning on trees planted by the builder
- Raising low limbs over sidewalks, driveways and fences
- Removing trees planted too close to the house or foundation
- Cleanup after wind or hail, including hanging limbs
- Stump grinding when a homeowner wants to replant with a better tree
- Advice on spacing and species before you plant
Hauling and debris
Wolfforth's household trash is collected by Republic Services under contract with the city, and residents are told to call City Hall to arrange drop-off of large items. Branches from a tree job usually don't fit that system, so our written quote states whether we chip and haul everything. Call (806) 855-8442 to set up a visit. Get a free estimate

Wolfforth Questions
My subdivision tree is only eight years old. Does it really need pruning?
That is the ideal age. Removing a competing leader or a badly placed limb on a young tree leaves a small wound that closes quickly. Waiting until the same limb is ten inches thick turns a simple cut into a large wound or a removal.
Hail tore up my tree's leaves. Should I cut it back?
Usually not right away. Healthy trees push out new leaves within a few weeks. Remove only branches that are broken, and have the trunk checked for split bark once it has leafed back out.
Do you work in the newer neighborhoods like Preston Manor and Harvest?
Yes. We cover all of Wolfforth, including the newer subdivisions around Frenship schools, and the county land just outside the city limits.
Will my HOA need to approve a tree removal?
If your neighborhood has an HOA, check its covenants for rules on front-yard trees or replanting before we schedule a removal; we can give you a written description of the work to submit with your request.
